The DRZ09 will ask: "地域を選択してください" (Select region). You must select "Japan." If you select "Other," the unit will lock permanently and require a service center reset.

Insert the Carrozzeria AVIC DRZ09 Navigation-installation disk into the top slot. The screen will show: "Check disk... Do not eject." Without VSS, the gyro calibration will fail
The unit will prompt: "ぐるぐる回ってください" (Please drive in circles). Find an empty parking lot. Drive in a slow, steady circle for 2 minutes, then a figure-8 for 3 minutes. Do not turn off the engine. Do not eject
After calibration, the disk writes 47MB of firmware to the internal flash. This takes 8 minutes. Do not touch the brake or open the door (vibration can brick the unit).
